SOUTH ATLANTIC SQUID

FISHING IN FALKLAND ISLANDS
In 1998, together with our local partner, Beauchene Fishing, we founded South Atlantic Squid in the Falkland Islands, an archipelago located on the continental platform of the South Atlantic 350 Km from the continent.

In the pure and icy waters, the Baffin Bay develops it’s activity fishing “Patagonian Squid” and other species.

The authorities of the Falkland Islands, being aware of the richness of their fishing grounds, have implemented a series of demanding measures to control the fishery, respect and preserve the environment, such as the imposition of systems to scare away birds or avoid the nets that affect other marine species such as seals, as well as measures of sustainability of the fishery itself.

SEACOPE FREEZER FISHING

FISHING IN NAMIBIA
In 2004, after reaching an agreement with our current Namibian partner Seaflower Whitefish Corporation, we formed Seacope Freezer Fishing in Namibia, South of the African Continent.

Potentiated by the Benguela current, the cold waters of Namibia are very rich in nutrients that feed a wide variety of marine species that propitiate very abundant fishing.

There, the Pemba Bay vessel carries out its activity capturing "Capensis Hake" during 11 months per year. During this time, inspectors from the fisheries department control on board that approved fishing gear is being respected, that less commercial species are not discarded and that no polluting activities that could damage the ecosystem and the sustainability of their fishing grounds are produced.
